OUR PROGRAMS

Mint Toddler Program

For 18-month-olds to three-year olds

The period from birth to age six is a crucial time in a child’s development. Children learn from what they see, hear, taste, smell, feel and sense around them.

Practical Life

Practical life activities teach the child to do things for themselves. The child learns to complete a meaningful task from beginning to end. The activities help to build concentration skills and to develop hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. The child learns to dress and to care for themselves in the classroom. It is common to see a child working with tongs, rolling pins, pitchers of water, clothespins, spoons for transferring between bowls, brooms and dustpans, etc.

Sensorial

The child develops all of their senses, discovering the difference between
colours, hearing loud and soft sounds, smelling pleasant flowers and
unpleasant scents, feeling rough and smooth textures, tasting sour lemons and salty crackers, and so on.

Language

A toddler’s language and speech skills develop every day. The teachers enrich the child’s vocabulary through songs, finger plays, reading stories, looking at books and enjoying conversation. When ready, teachers introduce the child to lower case letters and to the phonetic sounds that each letter makes.

Math

Early mathematical thinking begins long before formal operations. Using concrete materials, like sorting trays and other developmental aids, toddlers explore quantity, order, and one-to-one correspondence in an intuitive and joyful way. The teachers reinforce the concepts with fun countdowns and games. These experiences lay the foundations for early numeracy.

Culture

The child learns about different places and people in our world through stories, objects and pictures. We discuss the different types of animals and plants that cover our planet. The child explores maps, nature objects, and seasonal themes, building curiosity and a sense of wonder. These early exposures lay the foundation for global thinking and environmental care.

Whole Child
Curriculum

French

During the sensitive period for language, toddlers have a remarkable capacity to absorb new sounds and structures. Our daily French program introduces the language through songs, movement, and playful repetition. This joyful immersion encourages early bilingual development and cultural appreciation.

Early Literacy

Early literacy is gently nurtured through storytelling, phonetic games, and exposure to sounds and symbols. The child begins to associate spoken language with printed words and internalize the rhythms and structure of language. These foundational skills set the stage for future reading and writing.

STEM

STEM in the toddler classroom begins with curiosity, discovery, and hands-on exploration. Experimenting with materials introduces basic concepts in science and engineering. These playful encounters cultivate inquiry and a love of learning. We perform science experiments like mixing salt with water to make a solution or mixing yellow and blue water to make green water.

Logic Games

Puzzles, sequencing cards, and cause-and-effect toys engage toddlers in early logical thinking. These activities foster focus, persistence, and problem-solving skills in a developmentally appropriate way. Each challenge strengthens the child’s ability to think independently and make connections.

Art and Music

Through rhythm, song, and sensory-rich materials, the child expresses themselves freely and joyfully. Our music and art experiences foster creativity, gross motor skills, and emotional expression. Each activity ignites the imagination and fosters development.

Athletics and Wellness

Physical movement is central to toddler development. Our athletics and wellness program supports coordination, balance, and body awareness through guided movement, stretching, and outdoor play. These activities also promote emotional regulation and lifelong healthy habits.
